For those who choose option 1 (the one week tour) the recommended flight from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport to Christchurch NZ departs Melbourne 9am Sunday 17th July and arrives into Christchurch at 2.35pm. Air New Zealand Flight NZ898. It is recommended that delegates book on this flight so we can arrive in Christchurch at the same time. You can book via the Air New Zealand website http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/ or ask your travel agent to incorporate this flight into your whole itinerary. However, it is not compulsory to book on this flight. You may find a cheaper and more convenient option to suit your situation, on Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th July. The plan is to meet for dinner at 6pm Sunday 17th July at the YMCA Accommodation 12 Hereford Street Christchurch. Whichever way you choose to travel to Christchurch, this will be the first meal we share together on the post-conference tour.
For those (if any) who choose to fly from Melbourne to Queenstown NZ on or before Tuesday 19th July , we will meet at 6pm for dinner in a Queenstown venue yet to be decided. Various flight options are available to fly from Melbourne to Christchurch. (see http://www.webjet.co.nz/ )
Flight arrangements for departing NZ (from Christchurch or elsewhere) after the post-conference tour are entirely flexible and open. Some people may choose to stay in NZ for longer than one week.
The cost (for the week) will be approximately NZ $600-$700 each for travel and accommodation, plus the cost of the Melbourne-Christchurch flight, plus spending money. Only two nights (the first two nights of the one week tour i.e. Christchurch and Tekapo) will require payment for accommodation. The other nights we will be billeted. The plan is to pre-book seats on Intercity Buses; see http://www.intercity.co.nz/
Please contact Greg Hughson greg.hughson@otago.ac.nz for further information and/or to register for either post-conference tour.
